Reiki Treatments
Reiki is a self-development and healing system that was rediscovered in Japan early last century. Its essence is about moving into a state of more balance in all aspects of our life. 'Reiki' means 'Universal Life Energy'. Eastern medicine, yoga and martial arts have always worked with this energy; it is known as 'Ki' in Japan, as 'Chi' in China, and 'Prana' in India.
A Reiki treatment can unblock tensions, re-balance the energy flow, and open energy channels. This has many benefits on a physical, mental and emotional level. The free flow of energy stimulates the body's own healing potential. Reiki can be given by slightly touching the body, working in the aura only (no touch), or long-distance. It is a non-invasive therapy with no side-effects or risk of overdose. As it is very gentle and safe, it can be used by all ages, including new-born babies, pregnant mothers, surgical patients, and frail or very ill people. If you visit my Peace with Death page, you will see that I also offer Reiki for people who live with a terminal diagnosis or go through bereavement. As a complementary method, Reiki is being used in GP surgeries, hospices, cancer support groups, drug rehabilitation, etc. However, Reiki treatments do not replace the need to seek medical advice if you have a health problem. You can read more about this on our Working Principles page. |

What happens in a session?
A Reiki treatment lasts 1 hour, and I also offer a 30 minutes try-out session. The first step of every session is making sure you feel comfortable and relaxed. You choose whether you want to sit on a chair or lie on the massage table, whether you want some music, extra blankets or pillows. There is no need to remove any clothing.
I will then put my hands gently in a series of positions - on or over the body (you can choose this as well). In some positions, I will remain for a while, in others, I will move on quite quickly. You don't have to worry about the timing and intensity at all: Your energy system will only draw in as much Reiki energy as is needed, using it in whatever way is most appropriate at the time. Reiki may be felt as a flow of energy, a mild tingling, warmth, coolness, other sensations, or nothing at all. After the session, you will feel relaxed and calm, and may want to rest for a while. |
Reiki for Animals
I have a 20year old cat who is doing very well – like all my pets, she has been receiving Reiki all her life. She will certainly feel my Reiki hands on her when she is ready to pass the threshold.
Most animals enjoy Reiki and they experience similar benefits to humans. Reiki can relax them and balance their energy system. This can boost their happiness and self-healing capability. Just like for humans, Reiki for animals can be given on the body, in the aura, or long-distance. You can bring your (small) pet to the session, or I can come see your animal within a reasonable distance around London. If this is not possible, I can do remote work on your pet. |

Gift Certificates
Regular Reiki sessions are a lovely practice, even if you don't have a 'burning issue'. They can bring joy and balance, and help ward-off illnesses, stress and fatigue. As a 'massage for the energy system', a series of sessions might be a meaningful gift for yourself or for others. More info. |
